Who Are We?

About Us

The School for Climate is a Climate Arts Collective born out of the early work of our non profit parent organization Canadian Climate Challenge. The School for Climate was founded to empower artists to convey what a sustainable narrative looks like, what a different cultural story rooted in climate justice feels like - in effect to literally paint the picture of how incredible a sustainable Canada can look like.

In response to the lack of an inspirational collective narrative, The School for Climate’s intention is to replace the anxiety associated with the climate crisis with the very real vision of how our collective lives are vastly improved when we implement climate solutions.

It is our opportunity to start acting with the collective Canadian identity necessary to Build Back Better and achieve a Just Recovery for All.

In a time when people are decimated by the impact of COVID-19 separation, isolation and precarity, this is the opportunity to generate a renewed sense of collective purpose.

We need to seize this opportunity to steer a Climate Canadian Consciousness.

It’s time that the message is felt from all communities across Canada, to identify the Climate Solutions that particularly represent their community, to co-create that message, and have it heard country-wide.

It's time for Art & Artists to play the instrumental role that they always play during pivotal roles in history. The intersectional vision that is created when we identify the solutions that are particularly pertinent to specific neighbourhoods, communities and industries, and communicate that vision through creative projects from murals to immersive environments, allows for a genuinely emotional connection to our collective path.

The School for Climate’s goal is to connect with folks in the areas that they have agency, and to express what role folks can have in stewarding desirable change. The perspective of the School for Climate is that Bold Leadership from Government and public institutions, leads to economies of scale for private organizations.

We are a BIPOC & predominantly youth-led team working with Grassroots, Activists, Finance, Law, Education, Indigenous communities, Communities of Colour and more.

Join Us as we endeavour to cover our city with Climate Art.
Join Us as we demonstrate how responding to our Climate Emergency can benefit us all.
